Renato Chiavi hands over air and ocean freight management
Successor Chris Fahy to lead DHL Global Forwarding business
Starting January 1, 2006, Renato Chiavi, 65, is handing over management of DHL Danzas Air & Ocean to Chris Fahy, 49. Fahy, who has been the regional head of Europe up until now, will manage the division, which has grown since the acquisition of Exel and is now called DHL Global Forwarding. Chiavi will continue to work with the company and will, among other things, actively support the integration of Exel as well as help promote the expansion of the project and special forwarding business.
Renato Chiavi, who managed DHL Danzas Air & Ocean since 1995, can look back to nearly 50 successful years in the freight business. Under his management, Deutsche Post World Net's air and ocean freight businesses were expanded to the No. 1 and No. 2 worldwide, respectively. During this time, the U.S. air freight company Air Express International was successfully integrated and business in the growth markets of Asia, Central and South America comprehensively expanded.
DHL Global Forwarding is the leading service provider for air and ocean freight as well as a globally operating project forwarding company. These operations are rounded off by a number of added value services. In the past year, the business division recorded a double-digit increased rate in tonnage for air freight (+24%) and ocean freight volume (+19%) and achieved sales of nearly 5 billion euros.
