DHL helps earthquake victims in South Asia
Logistical support for the international catastrophe deployment
DHL, the express and logistics subsidiary of Deutsche Post World Net, is supporting the international aid campaigns for the victims of the earthquake catastrophe in South Asia with a series of measures. The efforts are concentrated primarily on Pakistan, which was hit the hardest by the quakes. They include logistical cooperation with customers and aid organizations in the region for providing the victims with desperately needed food, water, medicine, and relief supplies.
At the airport in the Pakistani capital of Islamabad, the DHL logistics experts, in coordination with the national government, are heading the transshipment and distribution of air freight supplies that are arriving there on charter flights from all over the world. This special know-how played an important role in managing the situation on location after the tsunami catastrophe at the end of 2004 as well as recently after the flooding of New Orleans.
DHL Pakistan as well as the regional headquarters of DHL Asia/Pacific in Singapore are coordinating the aid measures in close coordination with the Group headquarters in Bonn.
