Sales representatives depend totally on up-to-date sales documents. The generic drugs manufacturer ratiopharm has now started to send these documents by DHL. Hundreds of sales reps will be supplied with brochures, flyers and texts on the range of generic drugs from the company HQ in Ulm, Germany.
A total of around 175,000 express parcels a year will be sent to the reps on a daily basis. What's special about the new contract? If required, DHL Express will get documents to the ratiopharm sales reps between 5 p.m. and 10 p.m. as part of their time-definite delivery service. This means the employees get the material at a preferred time which they specify in advance. An innovation with lots of advantages for the generic drugs manufacturer. "This special DHL service makes our employees much more flexible," commented Henning Bosch, member of the Board of Management responsible for the SCM/Logistics division of the Merckle/ratiopharm group.
This service is part of a large-scale collaboration between the logistics service provider and the pharmaceutical company resulting from a joint analysis of ratiopharm's national distribution. As a service provider, DHL Express has taken over large parts of the national and international logistics of ratiopharm. Since 2004, the two companies have collaborated successfully on supplying hospitals and pharmacies with medication. The number of parcels arriving punctually at the relevant recipient overnight has risen considerably. Stefan Winckelmann, Life Sciences Industry Sector Manager at DHL Express says, "This collaboration shows the efficiency of the Life Sciences Industry Sector when it comes to fulfilling special customer requirements."
